Final DX4000 : Headphone Closed

Final has expanded its DX Series with the DX3000CL, marking the first closed-back design in the range. Launched this week, the new model sits below the DX6000 open-back flagship whilst sharing the same Japanese-designed dynamic driver philosophy. In case you were in any doubt, this is a wired model.

Paper–carbon composite driver

The DX3000CL employs a 40mm Paper–Carbon Composite dynamic driver with what Final calls a “free-edge surround structure”. This construction aims to reduce unwanted resonance whilst allowing controlled diaphragm movement. The driver assembly has been developed entirely in-house at Final’s Japan facility.

From the press release: “It delivers a smooth, natural tonal balance, with clear midrange, open treble and a rich, tightly controlled low-end that captures the warmth and realism listeners associate with the brand.”

Closed-back isolation with “open tuning”

Unlike the DX6000’s open-back configuration, the DX3000CL’s closed-back housing provides somepassive isolation from external noises and keeps your music choices private. Final claims the acoustic chambers have been tuned to maintain an open presentation despite the sealed design. The lightweight chassis uses padded earpads and a balanced headband system designed for extended listening

Japanese development and manufacture

Final positions the DX3000CL as a more accessible entry point to the sound of the DX Series. The Paper–Carbon Composite diaphragm differs from the magnesium alloy construction found in the DX6000, representing a distinct approach to driver design within the same product family. This new model is made in Japan, maintaining Final’s in-house engineering approach.
