The standard USB cable is fitted with a Type A USB connector at one end and a choice of connectors at the other (such as Type B, Mini-B and Micro-B and as from late Spring 2024, the Type C version will be available)..
As such, it is designed to act as a digital audio cable, between a computer/streamer and a D-to-A convertor (a « DAC »), carrying audio signals from the former.
In this way, you can play your music stored on your computer or mobile phone/tablet or media player, via your hi-fi system (if the aforementioned DAC is connected to an audio input of your stereo system).
Shown above is: USB C-C cable (factory terminated)
Type A-C is also available and C-B are also available soon.
Standard Features:
High Performance, High Speed – Uses a flexible cable with dual screens for the best RF pick-up protection.
One twisted pair for data and one twisted pair for power, with individual screens for minimal cross-channel interference.
Low capacitance and efficient noise rejection maintain signal integrity in long run interconnects.
PE-insulated wires with correct 90 Ohms impedance design.
24K gold plated and shielded connectors.
The connectors are moulded to withstand tough applications and long term use.
Maximum Data Transfer Rate: 480 Mbits/second (as per USB 2.0 specifications).
Please note:
While USB 2.0 and 3.0 are physically and electrically compatible, USB 3.0 is a dual-link system that is not currently used for USB Audio.
Connectors used to terminate USB cables are:
1) Standard Type A to Standard Type B – for use with most mains-powered DACs – available in the following lengths:
0.7m, 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 8m, 10m, 12m, 15m
2) NEW Standard Type A to Standard Type C – for use with the new generation of DACs – available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m
3) NEW Standard Type C to Standard Type C – for use with the new generation of DACs – available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m
4) NEW Standard Type C to Standard Type B – for use with the older products that use the Type B socket – available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m
5) Standard Type A to mini-USB B – for use with some DACs – available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m, 3m
6) Standard Type A to micro-USB B – for use with certain mobile phones, tablets and some DACs – available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m, 3m
7) Standard Type A Male to Standard Type A Female – can be used as an extension cable – available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m
